Superstition by Stevie Wonder – Motown Monday

When you believe in things that you don’t understand, Then you suffer, Superstition ain’t the way

Let’s get this week off to a superstition-free start. Quite possibly one of the biggest artists to come out of Motown, Stevie warns us about the danger of superstitious beliefs. Maybe this is what Blee was listening to when he decided to embark on the 13 chapters of the Black Lion Chronicles. This song was taken from the album ‘Talking Book’ which is actually Stevie’s fifteenth album!

Motown is a definitely a legacy worthy of a lot or respect. What that record company managed to achieve through music cannot be overstated, particularly given the zeitgeist of the era in which it was started.

Working from the appropriately titled Hitsville Recording Studios, Motown churned out hots after hits, year after year. Their success is not limited to their impact on the music charts but their impact on the culture and the thinking of the people their music reached. It would be fair to say that Motown played a major role in easing racial tension in a then completely segregated America.

To that end, we have created Motown Monday to celebrate and show some respect to some of the amazing music that Motown has blessed us with over the years.
